Purpose and service overview

Final cleaning of surfaces, fixtures, millwork, floors, restrooms, kitchens, interior glass, and accessible detail areas after construction work is substantially complete. Project-based scheduling coordinated with the general contractor, construction manager, and site superintendent.

Typical scope inclusions

The following are examples of tasks that may be included when specifically listed in the proposal or service schedule:

  • Removal of remaining construction dust from agreed surfaces
  • Cleaning of doors, frames, trim, ledges, and millwork
  • Cleaning of counters, cabinets, and fixtures as specified
  • Restroom and breakroom detail cleaning
  • Floor cleaning based on finish type and manufacturer guidance
  • Interior glass and reachable tracks within agreed scope
  • Final visual detail and touch-up pass

Items that require separate review or pricing

To avoid scope gaps, the following are not assumed to be included unless expressly agreed in writing:

  • Removal of hazardous waste or regulated materials
  • Trade debris, bulk demolition waste, or materials requiring special disposal unless contracted
  • Cleaning before areas are released by the GC
  • Correction of construction defects or damaged finishes
  • Re-cleaning caused by subsequent trade activity unless included

Service delivery sequence

  1. Review site information, service areas, surfaces, and access requirements.
  2. Confirm work window, site contact, safety rules, and materials/equipment responsibilities.
  3. Perform tasks in the agreed order and protect adjacent finishes and occupied areas.
  4. Complete the agreed checklist and report any blocked, unsafe, or inaccessible areas.
  5. Coordinate inspection, correction of included deficiencies, and closeout.

Quality review and completion

Completion should be evaluated against the written scope and agreed acceptance criteria—not an undefined expectation of “everything.” The client and service provider should identify the areas inspected, any exceptions, and any follow-up work authorized.

Frequently asked questions

Can this service be included in a larger contract?

Yes. Related services can be combined in a proposal when the scope, pricing, schedule, and responsibilities are clearly identified.

Can you price from plans and specifications?

Bid documents can be submitted for review. A walkthrough or clarification may still be required to validate site conditions and quantities.

What happens if the scope changes?

Changes should be documented, priced, and approved by the authorized client representative before additional work proceeds, except for immediate safety actions.
